A prestigious local project: the refurbishment of existing facilities into a new, state-of-the-art rugby academy, plus the construction of a new Multi Use Building and a Training and Events Centre made up of a timber-frame building and a tensile "tented" structure.

Fred Weston Ltd was responsible for power, lighting, fire and security systems, data and IT, lightning protection, PA and audio-visual systems, the TV system, disabled call and the sports lighting installation.

Rhyl

New 6th Form Centre, Coleg Llandrillo Rhyl

A substantial two-storey refurbishment of Coleg Llandrillo Rhyl, including a Construction Skills Workshop, a massage and therapy department, a hairdressing and nail suite, new student support facilities, a new coffee shop, a refurbished restaurant, the relocation of the gas training centre to the campus, new learning and support areas, upgraded student facilities and the complete transformation of the college's front elevations.

We worked alongside Capita Symonds consultants and Wynne Construction Ltd to provide a complete electrical package: general and emergency lighting, power and IT, a photovoltaic system, and BMS and natural ventilation controls wiring. The project was completed on time with zero defects.

Rhos-on-Sea

A redevelopment of the existing Mostyn building on the main Rhos-on-Sea campus, creating a facility for the continuing professional development and vocational higher education needs of people working in the North Wales health and care sector.

Fred Weston Ltd was the nominated sub-contractor for the electrical installation, working closely with Atkins consulting engineers and Anwyl Construction Ltd on a complete package: general and emergency lighting, power and IT, BMS, and air conditioning and ventilation controls wiring. Completed on time with zero defects.

Rhos-on-Sea

"Heart Space", Llandrillo College

Heart Space was a new development for Llandrillo College, a multi-campus college on the North Wales coast with some 22,000 full and part-time students. The work extended the main entrance to form a new foyer, refectory, the Orme View Conference Centre and a restaurant, phased so the college stayed in uninterrupted use.

Working closely with Harry Fairclough Ltd and the college, we provided a complete electrical package from general and emergency lighting, power and IT through to BMS and natural ventilation controls wiring. Completed on time with zero defects.

Flint

Ysgol Maes Hyfryd (SEN School)

Type: New-build school
Partners: Wynne Construction and Flintshire County Council
Contract: Partnering scheme

A new-build school designed by Flintshire County Council for children with special educational needs aged 8 to 11. The electrical design was undertaken by the council's engineers and executed by Fred Weston Ltd, working closely with Wynne Construction and the council within a partnering scheme.

The complete electrical package covered general and emergency lighting, power and IT, a photovoltaic system, and BMS and natural ventilation controls wiring. During the same project we also completed a large single-storey extension to Ysgol Pen Coch, another SEN school in Flint. Both were phased to minimise disruption to the existing schools and completed on time with zero defects.

All Through School, Connah's Quay

Client: Flintshire County Council

Fred Weston secured the electrical package for the new "All Through" school in Connah's Quay, working with Read Construction Holdings Ltd and Flintshire County Council on a partnering scheme. The school of approximately 2,300m² has two large wings; our package covers lighting, power, data and IT, lightning protection, a photovoltaic (PV) system and CHP control wiring.

Cwmni Da TV Studio, Doc Ffictoria

Fred Weston Ltd was awarded the electrical package for the former printworks at Doc Ffictoria, Caernarfon, renovated into a state-of-the-art TV studio for Cwmni Da. The package includes power, lighting, IT and data, fire alarm and security.
